Peroxide Solutions
Peroxide solutions disinfect your contact lenses after wearing them. These solutions, in combination with other solutions often called peroxide systems, are extremely effective against germs. Especially for sensitive eyes, these solutions are recommended as, in contrast to most all-in-one solutions, they do not contain any preservatives. If your eyes are sensitive or you are allergic to preservatives, peroxide solutions are advisable. Peroxide systems are used primarily for disinfection of soft contact lenses, some of them are also compatible with rigid contact lenses. After cleaning the contact lens surface, disinfecting the contact lens is the second step of the contact lens care.isinfecting the contact lens is the second step of the contact lens care.
Using peroxide systems usually requires an additional step: While cleaning the contact lens, the peroxide needs to be neutralized before putting the contact lens on the eye again. When using peroxide solutions it is very important to read the enclosed instructions and to follow the advice of your optician.
With some single-step peroxide systems, the solution needs to be combined with a specific container that reacts with the solution itself (catalyser-systems). With other single-step peroxide systems, the neutralization is completed with a tablet which is normally packaged together with the peroxide solution (tablet-systems).
Two-step peroxide systems disinfect your contact lenses particularly thoroughly as the hydrogen peroxide concentration remains stable throughout the complete disinfection process. This is only the case in a limited sense with single-step peroxide systems, such as catalyser and tablet-systems.
The neutralization process takes normally at least six hours at single-step peroxide systems, two-step peroxide systems often have a shorter duration. However, it is really important to always follow the instructions about the time needed for the neutralization process. You can find these on the manufacturer’s package leaflets. After the neutralization process, the contact lens may not get into contact with the peroxide solution again.
Lensplaza offers these peroxide solutions.
